Two years ago, I made one of the biggest decisions of my life. I uprooted my business and family, leaving behind everything I had built over the past decade in Boulder. It wasn’t easy. Boulder was where I had established all my professional connections, spent my entire career, and developed a strong client base. The idea of starting over in south Denver—especially as someone who works on commission—felt risky and daunting.

To make things even more intense, I was pregnant with our second daughter at the time. Things were going well in Boulder. I had no real reason to leave, except for one thing: I had a vision for something even better. I dreamed of being closer to family and creating a more balanced, fulfilling life. But it was a dream that came with a lot of fear—what if I failed? What if my commercial real estate expertise didn’t translate to this new market? What is no one wanted to work with me?

Despite those fears, I made the leap. I moved my family and found a new brokerage firm in south Denver. I began rebuilding my business from the ground up. To grow my business I had to do a lot of small scary things, like cold calling, joining networking groups, and putting myself out there on social media. The growth of my client list was slow going at first. It took months to close my first deal. There were many times that I worried I had made the wrong decision.

Now, two years later, I can say with full confidence that it was one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. Life is better than I could have imagined. We’re closer to family, spending every Sunday evening at family dinner. I now live 10 minutes from my office, leaving so much more time to enjoy my kids and husband. We love our quiet neighborhood, where we go on walks after dinner and have made new friends.

I’ve also experienced tremendous personal and professional growth over the past two years. By stepping out of my comfort zone and tackling the challenges that came with starting fresh, I discovered a passion for creating something new. I embraced the opportunity to connect with new people and build meaningful business relationships, thriving in a way I hadn’t expected previously. Most importantly, I realized just how strong and resilient I am. These experiences have made me a better agent, as I now have a deeper understanding of the challenges my clients face while growing their own businesses. This knowledge is paying off—I just closed my 20th transaction of the year.

So, if you’re reading this and you have a dream, a vision, or a “big scary thing” on your mind—whether it’s moving to a new city, starting a business, or pursuing a long-held passion—this is your sign to go for it. Don’t let fear hold you back from greatness.

And if you need some commercial real estate expertise along your path, I’d love to help. My journey has taught me so much about embracing change, taking risks, and building something new from the ground up. If I can be a resource for you as you take your next big step, reach out—because the best things in life often come from the boldest decisions.
